Clouds through an airplane window

Often on flights I catch-up on my Bible reading...although there are days like this where the pressures of work can make it so my mind drifts and I have to re-read sections if I really want to gain from Scripture.

Work has a "brush with fame" contest where we try to get our picture taken with someone famous. Living in Antrim, NH...this isn't easy. The e-mail below is my entry from yesterday. No reaction yet...and I've put the associated YouTube video at the bottom for easy access.

One other note...Doug Collins and his son Tim are great people--I could not have asked for a better pair to sit next to on a 7-hour flight from London. Great brothers in Christ...

Hi ________,

Although I personally believe it was mostly due to the cultural ignorance of the judges, I realize that my first entry for our "Brush with Fame" photo contest [Ashade Pearce] did not fare well.

Thus, I am proud to submit my second one, here pictured with Doug Collins:

Augie smileIt's a little hard to see...but as I was also ready to head to bed here in England, it was time for Augie to do so back in the U.S. (5 hours "earlier").  He was getting fussy (part of the reason we knew it was bed time), so I made strange Donald Duck noises (and others) to entertain him.  What you see here is him laughing.

Technology really can make the world seem much smaller...

Although my company allows us to fly business class on long flights, the price difference was ridiculous...so I went with coach.  Then United, during the check-in process, offered me an upgrade to Business Class for $800+ dollars.  I was tempted (being 6'4"), but applying the same cost the other direction it would double the airfare.

Chalk one up for me for saving my company money; chalk one up for fate for the fact I'm the only one sitting in a row with three seats (a clearly undersold flight). :-)

We've been aloft a couple hours, and our flight path seems to just barely be taking us outside of North America...

Well, back to work on this computer.  I am trapped between wanting to get a ton of stuff done, and wanted to relax because I got diddly-squat for sleep (first flight was at 6AM).

Evan (with Mikey) gets his ticket backThe last couple of days have included quite a bit of travel...basically to-and-from Michelle's sister's in New York.  The reason?  Mikey gets to chaperone his cousin, Evan, to Atlanta and back (to visit Grandma).  Here you see Evan getting his ticket back before he and Mikey are the first on the plane (well, other than the crew).  Grandma reported they arrived safely; Mikey is spending today with grandpa going to see land and a boat and Evan is going to get to swim with grandma...
